TRUSTED INFORMATION SECURITY ASSESSMENT EXCHANGE
TISAX is an assessment and exchange mechanism for the information security of enterprises and allows recognition of assessment results among the participants. If you want to process sensitive information from your customers or evaluate the information security of your own suppliers, TISAX supports you in reducing efforts.
One of your partners requested that you prove that your information security management complies with a defined level according to the requirements of the “Information Security Assessment” (ISA).
Establishing and maintaining an information security management system (ISMS) is already a complex task. Proving to your partner that your information security management is up to the job adds even more complexity. Please refer to the TISAX Participant Handbook for further information.
VDA 6.X Quality Management System certification
The VDA 6.X Quality Management System certification is an extension of ISO 9001 for the automotive industry as required by automotive manufacturers in Germany.
Both the IATF 16949 and the VDA 6 certifications share their roots in the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The VDA 6 is classified into two areas; management and products & processes.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
While IATF 16949 and VDA 6.1 are only mandatory for automotive manufacturers, VDA 6.2 is required for automotive service providers and VDA 6.4 is required for automotive tool and machine manufacturers. Experts from the automotive industry work together in the VDA’s Information Security working group to develop common standards and appropriate protective measures. One major result of this cooperation is an industry standard for information security assessments, the VDA Information Security Assessment (ISA) catalog. The updated Version 5.1 of the VDA ISA catalog is available https://www.vda.de/dam/jcr:5f5a7fd5-cb64-45a3-807b-ef37ea89b788/VDA_ISA_5_1_EN.xlsx
The VDA recommends that companies involved in the automotive industry’s value chain establish information security based on this VDA ISA.
It contains industrywide approved requirements for information security and is the basis for assessments to determine the level of information security (Information Security Assessments).
The VDA ISA catalog is also the basis for the TISAX industry model, which ensures cross-company recognition of information security assessment results. The VDA has called in the ENX Association as a neutral body to manage and support the TISAX model. Further information on TISAX can be found at https://portal.enx.com/de-de/TISAX/.
The VDA ISA catalog was fundamentally revised in 2020 and optimized both in terms of structure and content. The focus was on making work with the catalog simpler and more efficient, thus reducing effort for companies and auditors. With version 5.1, in addition to linguistic corrections, the protection goals with regard to requirements for high and very high protection needs in the “Information Security” spreadsheet were supplemented. There were no changes to requirements.
In establishing and maintaining an appropriate level of information security, the member companies are supported by the document “Recommendation on Information Security” and the VDA ISA catalog.
Having successfully completed the VDA process for several organizations, let us at QSE assure your success today!
